Nickel Alloy Products

Nickel will alloy readily with many other metals, including chromium, iron, molybdenum and copper. This allows for a wide variety of alloys that demonstrate outstanding resistance to corrosion and high-temperature scaling, exceptional high-temperature strength and other unique properties, such as shape memory and low coefficient of expansion

Nickel-Based Alloys for Extreme Environments

Nickel alloys are alloys consisting of nickel, with additional metals and chemicals, depending on what type of properties the alloy should have. The most common mix is nickel-chromium, but molybdenum, copper, and titanium are also frequently used in these types of alloys.

In general, nickel-based materials are known for their excellent corrosion and heat resistance while also maintaining outstanding strength. These properties make them ideal for use in high-temperature and high-chloride environments. However, there are also nickel alloys that are intended for cryogenic conditions (i.e. temperatures below -150° C).

The material’s many advantages makes it a popular choice for a variety of industries, including paper and pulp, oil and gas, aerospace, and chemical processing. Regardless of your needs, we at Specialty Steel Supply have the perfect nickel-based alloy for your project.

INCONEL® 625, Alloy 625

UNS N06625

Alloy 625 alloy provides exceptional oxidation and corrosion resistance, excellent strength and toughness, outstanding fatigue resistance, high formability and good weldability. Often called INCONEL® 625, Alloy 625 maintains its strength and toughness anywhere from cryogenic temperatures up to 2000° F. Because alloy 625 work hardens quickly, extensive cold forming may require annealing throughout the cold forming process. This alloy is often used in jet engines and other aerospace applications.

INCONEL® 718 Nickel Alloy

UNS N07718 | ASTM B637 | AMS 5662 | AMS 5663

INCONEL® 718 is a nickel alloy. The material in the Annealed (per AMS 5662) condition can also be heat treated (per AMS5663), to increase strength and stress rupture (up to 1300°F), while maintaining good corrosion and heat resistance and weldability. 718 has is suitable for use in many environments and applications as it has good resistance to both alkaline and acid. 718 has good resistance to oxidation at temperatures seen in jet engine or gas turbines.

INCONEL® 718 NACE Nickel Alloy

UNS N07718 | ASTM B637 | NACE MR0175 | API 6ACR/718

INCONEL® 718 NACE is a variant of the 718 Nickel-based alloy. It is produced with a modified chemical composition and which has been age-hardened. It is produced specifically in a way to ensure it meets the maximum hardness requirements of NACE MR0175 for use in sour gas H₂S service. 718 NACE has good corrosion resistance and weldability, combined with high strength while having lighter tolerances on the hardness. Properties are typical and are not required to be reported in the Annealed condition. Typically, 440C is purchased in an annealed condition and then machined prior to heat treating as material can be hardened to 50-60HRC.

INCONEL® 725, Alloy 725

UNS N07725

Alloy 725, also called INCONEL® 725, is a nickelchromium-molybdenum-niobium alloy that is highly resistant to corrosion and is age hardenable for extremely high strength. It has essentially the same corrosion resistance as INCONEL® 625, which is widely used in a broad range of severely corrosive environments. The strength of age-hardened alloy 725 is of the order of twice that of annealed alloy 625. Because the strength of alloy 725 is developed by heat treatment, not by cold work, ductility and toughness remain high. Also, strength can be imparted to large or non-uniform sections that cannot be strengthened by cold work.

INCOLOY® 825, Alloy 825

UNS N08825

Alloy 825, also called INCOLOY® 825, is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy with additions of molybdenum, copper, and titanium. The nickel content is sufficient for resistance to chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking. The nickel, in conjunction with the molybdenum and copper, also gives outstanding resistance to reducing environments such as those containing sulfuric and phosphoric acids. The molybdenum also aids resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. The alloy’s chromium content confers resistance to a variety of oxidizing substances such as nitric acid, nitrates and oxidizing salt. The titanium addition serves, with an appropriate heat treatment, to stabilize the alloy against sensitization to intergranular corrosion.

INCOLOY® 925, Alloy 925

UNS N09925

Alloy 925, also called INCOLOY® 925, is an age hardenable nickel based alloy that contains chromium and iron. Its composition offers a high level of strength and corrosion resistance. Often sold as Inconel® 925, alloy 925, it is known for a number of different unique properties including: Protection in oxidizing and reducing atmosphere, resistance to chloride ion stress-corrosion cracking, excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Many different industries rely on Alloy 925 for a number of uses including valves, hangers, packers, tubulars for sour gas production, marine fasteners and pump shafts.
