Nickels: 500
500 alloy not only offers excellent resistance to corrosion in salts, bases, and reducing acids, but also has double the tensile strength and three times the yield strength of alloy 400. This nickel-copper alloy retains its strength up to 1200° F and remains tough and ductile down to -423° F. It is spark resistant and maintains a low magnetic permeability down to -210° F. When welding, annealing and post weld stress relieving are recommended. It is most often used for pumps and drive shafts, valve components, fasteners, and springs.
